When I was working on this painting I experienced a strong feeling of freedom, which I expressed with those swooping curves and the energetic colours of red, yellow and deep rust brown of the curves. The background colours enhance the all round positive feeling.
This painting deals with the moment when an all round good, warm feeling (the red circle, the orange and warm yellow) can suddenly, with a word or an action (the diagonal lines) change the good feeling, turning and twisting it into conflict (the grey S shape).
